Running Processes

The Running Processes section allows you to view all of the Unix processes you own:

PID - sort by process ID
Memory - sorty by consumed RAM (the size column)
CPU - sort by CPU consumption
Search - search processes by specifying search criteria
Run - launch a new process

The PID can be clicked on to display more information and controls:

Command - the unix command that launched the process
Process ID - the numeric id of the process
Parent process - the process this one forked from
Owner, Group - the effective user ID and effective group ID are equal to the process's real user ID and real group ID, respectively, unless the process or one of its ancestors evolved from a file that had the set-user-ID bit or set-group-ID bit set
Real User, Real Group - the real process owner and group
CPU - CPU load by this process
Size - RAM consumed by this process
Run time - the real processor time consumed by this process
Nice level - the priority of the process. It can be adjusted over the range of -20 (the highest priority) to 19 (the lowest)
Process Group ID - the ID of the group this process is a member of
Started - the time when the process forked from the parent process
TTY - the file name of the terminal connected to its standard input
