Protecting Web Directories
You can set protection for individual web directories within your user home.
To do this:
- Log in as domain admin
- Click the Password Protect Directories icon on the domain user home page.
- Click the Add protection for a new directory on the directories page.
- Fill the form that shows:

- Directory path: absolute path to the protected directory.
- File containing users: you can set it to choose automatically, or set specific file.
- Password encryption: choose the encryption algorithm. Leave the default if you aren't sure.
- Authentication realm: the message displayed in the password dialog box.
For instance, "Authentication required. Please enter username and password" or "Restricted files".
Once a client has authenticated with the "Restricted files" realm, it will automatically retry the same password
for any area on the same server that is marked with this realm. Therefore, you allow multiple restricted
areas share the same realm and, thus, prevent a user from being asked for a password more than once.
- Add user when Unix user is created?: synchronization of created user with users' list of the given directory.
- Update user when Unix user is?: synchronization of changed unix user with users' list of the given directory.
- Delete user when Unix user is?: synchronization of deleted unix user with users' list of the given directory.
- Click Create. This directory will appear in the list of protected directories.
- Create users that have access to this directory by clicking Add a new user for this directory.

- Fill the user form: enter username and password, enable user or leave disabled so far and click Create.
You can add multiple users to this protected directory by following the same procedure.
You can also find other, already existing protected directories. To do this:
- Enter the path where you want to find it.
- Click the corresponding button on the users and directory list:

- It will show the search result.
If you want to delete protected directory options, click the protected directory path and click Delete.
