Protecting Web Directories

You can set protection for individual web directories within your user home.

To do this:

1. Log in as domain admin.
2. Click the Protected Web Directories icon in the Others section.
3. Click the button on the directories page.
4. Fill out the form that shows:



• Directory path: absolute path to the protected directory.
• Authentication realm: the message displayed in the password dialog box. For instance, "Authentication required. Please enter username and password" or "Restricted files". Once a client has authenticated with the "Restricted files" realm, it will automatically retry the same password for any area on the same server that is marked with this realm. Therefore, you allow multiple restricted areas share the same realm and, thus, prevent a user from being asked for a password more than once.
5. Click Create. This directory will appear in the list of protected directories.

   

6. Create users/groups that have access to this directory by clicking Add a new user./Add a new group..
7. Fill out the user/group form: enter username/group name and password, enable user/group or leave disabled so far and click Create.

You can add multiple users/groups to this protected directory by following the same procedure.

You can also find other, already existing protected directories. To do this:

1. Enter the path where you want to find it.
2. Click the corresponding button on the users and directory list:
   

   

3. It will show the search result.

If you want to delete protected directory options, click the protected directory name and in the form that appeares, click on Delete.
