Preparing a Room for Baseboard
A pro explains how he ensures trim will run square to the floor with joints that are clean and tight before the work even begins.
In this video, finish carpenter Tucker Windover describes how he prepares to run baseboard in a room with imperfect conditions. He also explains his approach at the start of a new job and the reason he always copes trim to the right. Even a seasoned master carpenter can learn something from Tucker’s methodology, which includes making sure that each piece runs square to the floor, especially in tight corners. As Tucker says, “If that baby’s not square, then the next piece that comes into it is going to have to be cut out of square.
